Community means involving everyone

People served by Community Care of West Niagara (CCWN) come from all walks of life; many have experienced financial difficulties due to job loss, illness or other hardships. “We respond to the needs of more than 1000 individuals monthly, helping them to obtain food clothing and emergency assistance,” say Bev, Coordinator of Client Services.

Bev CCWNMany of these vulnerable people spend a high proportion of their income on housing. As a result, clothing and groceries can come in second on their list of what needs to be done for themselves and their families.

Canadian Community Support Foundation (CCSF), is proud to support CCWN and we recently dropped off a gift of more than a dozen boxes of brand new, donated shirts that will be distributed to those in need.

In addition to clothing support for people in need, CCWN offers a broad range programs to help people stay engaged and involved in their community. To find out more you can call 905-563-5822, or visit their location at 4309 Central Avenue, Beamsville, ON.

At CCSF our goal is also to help people at risk of falling through society’s cracks. We help to feed and clothe vulnerable people in our community. We donate food to local charities that directly feed those in need. We also donate hundreds of pounds of winter clothing to struggling individuals and families in Ontario and Quebec.

We are able to do this work through your help with clothing donations.  All our collection boxes located in high traffic areas in businesses across Eastern Ontario.

Material that can’t be re-used is processed into items like industrial rags, carpet under-padding or upholstery stuffing. When you donate clothing and textiles, you are doing much more than helping people. You are helping also to keep clothing out of landfills, and helping to curb pollution through a reduction in greenhouse gases. You are helping people and our environment.
