The Canadian Community Support Foundation provides a safety net for those at risk of falling through the cracks. In addition to our own efforts to feed and clothe Canadians in need, we provide assistance to existing charities within our communities.
Harmony House opened in Ottawa in 1987 in response to a need for safe, longer-term housing and support for abused women and their children fleeing violent situations. This need was originally identified in a five-year study of community social needs in Ottawa undertaken by the Social Planning Council. St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, which was looking to undertake a major social outreach program at the time, took on this ambitious project and brought Harmony House into existence.
The Canadian Community Support Foundation was thrilled to be able to donate $1000 worth of toiletries and cleaning supplies to Harmony House this holiday season. We are happy to know that these items will be put to good use by people who need them.
